translingua was founded in1981 by Mag. Dr. Brigitte Meßner. From the outset the aim was to create a viable business model combining high quality with attractive pricing.

Over the years, the company quickly grew to be one of theleading language service providers in Styria and currently employs three full-time and two part-time staff members, as well as 90 freelancers to meet the most varied demands.

During this time, and partly as a result of her activities at the University of Graz, Dr. Meßner rapidly became a prominent expert for language services and has come to be seen as adriving force behind quality assurance for language service providers in Austria. She is a founding member of the AATC, the Austrian Association of Translation Companies, and has been Deputy Chair of the ÖNORM committee for language services since 2016 and Vice-President of the Austrian Association of Certified Court Interpreters since 2018.

Over the course of the company's development it soon became clear that a modern and market-oriented translation and interpreting agency must offer far more than simply translating texts from one language into another. As a result, the company developed comprehensive expertise indesktop publishing in various languages and scripts, both for technical writing and documentation as well as typical advertising topics such as transcreation and localisation. Tools developed specifically for this purpose ensure linguistic convergence and consistence. 

Finally, the range of services offered by translingua is rounded off by the provision ofconference equipment.

As such, today translingua proudly boasts an almost unparalleled range of services and enjoys the long-term trust of many regular clients.

On1 July 2018, translingua was acquired by KERN Austria GmbH.
